Call_for_abstracts

To explore the scientific research base of evidence as well as the philosophical and theoretical underpinnings of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), the Traditional Chinese Medicine World Foundation has issued a Call for Abstracts in conjunction with Building Bridges of Integration for Traditional Chinese Medicine 2003. Abstracts may include research on acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, Qigong, Tuina, and any aspect of traditional Chinese medicine. The most outstanding abstracts will be selected for oral panel presentations at the conference. Poster Sessions will be open to all submitting abstract authors, and all abstracts will be published in the conference Program Book. The conference Scientific Review Committee is chaired by Henry S. Sacks, Ph.D., M.D., professor and director of clinical trials at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, New York.

If you would like to submit an abstract, please follow these steps (Adobe Acrobat required):

  1. Download and complete the abstract submission form (PDF file, 34 KB).

  2. Download and complete the faculty disclosure statement (PDF file, 14 KB).

  3. Following the formatting guidelines below, save your abstract as a Rich Text File (RTF) onto a 3.5" PC-compatible disk. Please include source files for all tables and graphics on the disk as well.

  4. Mail the disk, a printout of the two forms, and a check or money order for $25 made out to TCM World Foundation to:

    Jeanne-Marie Gilbert
    Research Coordinator
    TCM World Foundation
    396 Broadway, Suite 502
    New York, NY 10013

All submissions must be postmarked by June 14, 2003. The committee will announce oral panel decisions by August 1, and all presenters must confirm their participation by registering for the conference by September 1. Please e-mail any questions to Jeanne-Marie Gilbert at jmgilbert@tcmworld.org.

If you would like to share this information with your colleagues, you can download and print out a one-page flyer (PDF file, 27KB) about this call for abstracts.

Abstract Guidelines
  • Please limit your abstract to one page, including all graphics and tables. Use single-spaced, 11-point type at normal character spacing.

  • Please indicate institutional affiliation of all authors (e.g., JKC Peterson, Max Smith College of Medicine).

  • All graphics must be reproducible in black and white. Please include the source files for all graphics on disk; we cannot accept photocopies or other hard-copies of graphics.

Awards and Travel Support

Three awards will be presented at the conference for outstanding abstracts: two for oral panel presentations and one for poster sessions. Award recipients will be presented with a $500, $300 or $250 cash award toward travel reimbursement. Notifications of award will not be sent prior to the conference.

All abstract authors must register for the conference before September 1, 2003. This discounted rate for researchers is $179 for 3 days; $159 for 2 days; and $139 for one day. After September 1, registration for researchers will be at the Standard rate. Please see our registration page for details.
