To explore the scientific research base of evidence as well as the philosophical
and theoretical underpinnings of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), the Traditional
Chinese Medicine World Foundation has issued a Call for Abstracts in conjunction
with Building Bridges of Integration for Traditional Chinese Medicine 2003.
Abstracts may include research on acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, Qigong,
Tuina, and any aspect of traditional Chinese medicine. The most outstanding
abstracts will be selected for oral panel presentations at the conference. Poster
Sessions will be open to all submitting abstract authors, and all abstracts
will be published in the conference Program Book. The conference Scientific
Review Committee is chaired by Henry S. Sacks, Ph.D., M.D., professor and director
of clinical trials at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, New York. If you would like to submit an abstract, please follow these steps (Adobe
Acrobat required): Jeanne-Marie Gilbert All submissions must be postmarked by June 14, 2003. The committee will announce
oral panel decisions by August 1, and all presenters must confirm their participation
by registering for the conference by September 1. Please e-mail any questions
to Jeanne-Marie Gilbert at jmgilbert@tcmworld.org. If you would like to share this information with your colleagues, you can download
and print out a one-page flyer (PDF
file, 27KB) about this call for abstracts. Please indicate institutional affiliation of all authors (e.g., JKC Peterson,
Max Smith College of Medicine). Three awards will be presented at the conference for outstanding abstracts:
two for oral panel presentations and one for poster sessions. Award recipients
will be presented with a $500, $300 or $250 cash award toward travel reimbursement.
Notifications of award will not be sent prior to the conference. All abstract authors must register for the conference before September 1, 2003.
This discounted rate for researchers is $179 for 3 days; $159 for 2 days; and
$139 for one day. After September 1, registration for researchers will be at
the Standard rate. Please see our registration page
for details. Conference staff will be available to help pair researchers with other conference
participant to share lodging and travel expenses. To receive this consideration,
